Roleplays
Roleplays: finding and joining - RPGINI Docs
What a roleplay is, how to find one that fits, and how to join.
A roleplay is a shared story you create or join with other writers. Here’s what it is, how to find one, and how to get in.
What a roleplay is
A roleplay is a shared story with:
- Title and description — What the story is about.
- Rules — How to play (posting rules, tone, etc.).
- World — Setting, lore, and often locations, events, and races.
- Slots — Spaces for approved characters. You apply with one or more characters; moderators approve or reject.
Finding roleplays
You can find roleplays in several ways:
- Home — Featured roleplays and sections by genre.
- Roleplays — The main Roleplays list; browse by genre, status, or other filters.
- Search — Search by name, genre, tags, or keywords.
Where the list is shown, you’ll see filters (genre, status, applications open or closed). Use them to narrow results.
Roleplay page tabs
On a roleplay’s page you’ll see tabs:
- Overview — Description, rules, world summary, and the Join button.
- World — Locations, events, races, and lore. This is where you’ll join conversations and write in-world.
- Characters — Who’s in the roleplay and with which characters.
- Chat — Roleplay-wide chat for all participants (out-of-character coordination).
- Approvals — For mods: the queue for approving or rejecting character applications.
Joining
- Open the roleplay and go to Overview.
- Click Join.
- Choose your character(s) (one or more if the roleplay allows).
- Enter the optional password if the roleplay has one.
- Acknowledge the character lock notice if it’s shown.
- Submit.
If the roleplay requires approval, a mod will review your application in the Approvals tab. You’ll be notified of the result. If approval isn’t required, you may join right away (or as the roleplay’s settings say).
After joining
Once you’re in:
- The roleplay appears in your sidebar and on Home under “Participating”.
- Open World to see locations and events and join conversations there — that’s where you write the story with others.
- Use the Chat tab for roleplay-wide, out-of-character discussion and coordination.
